  • Condition: This is a NOS Vibroplex Lightning Bug from 1958. It has been inspected a number of times but is unused. It's water-based orange "Model" name is still visible on the base. Most keys do not have that anymore because the owner cleaned the key and wiped off the ink. This is one of the nicest keys of this type I have ever had. If Navy Gray is your color you will love this key. It is a perfect Lightning Bug example. Long out of production and now a real piece of history.

    This is a relisting to correct for listing errors and eBay automation faults.
    For Sale:
    From 1952, a NOS Vibroplex Lightning Bug key built on a very pretty Navy Gray cast iron base.  This long out of production model is a "Standard" model and dressed with the proper "black" plastic finger pieces.  For every reason I can think of for Vibroplex discontinuing this key, I can think of a reason why they would have been better off keeping it.  To this day I believe the Lightning Bug holds it's own in all aspects: operating, being used by more than one operator, being maintainable & repairable, ... it is just a clever and worthy design.  This is a beautiful key and an outstanding example of the Lightening Bug design.
    If you haven't added one of these to your collection, this key would be a very nice addition.  They have not been available for a few decades now.
    Condition:
    NOS; slightly dusty now and we recommend NOT cleaning it.  The original orange QA stamp is nicely visible and missing on most keys because the key they were on was indiscriminately cleaned.
