    Description

Turks and Caicos Islands 1976 50 Crowns Gold USA Bicentennial Coin MS 69
    The
    Turks and Caicos Islands
is a British Overseas Territory consisting of the larger
    Caicos Islands
    and smaller
    Turks Islands
, two groups of tropical islands in the Lucayan Archipelago of the Atlantic Ocean and northern West Indies. They are known primarily for tourism and as an offshore financial center.
The resident population is approximately 55,000 of whom 2/3 live on Providenciales in the Caicos chain. It is the third largest of the British overseas territories by population and has a total land mass of 170 square miles over 40 low-lying coral islands.
Previously governed indirectly by the Bahamas, the islands received their own governor in 1973 and have remained a separate, autonomous British Overseas Territory since.
From this newly created ‘island nation’ comes a 1976 50 Crown gold coin celebrating the 200
    th
anniversary of the United States of America Independence.
With a low mintage of only 905, this Brilliant Uncirculated coin weighs 6.22 grams (0.500 fine gold or 0.100 oz AGW) and has good luster and nice details.
It is graded MS 69 by ANACS, a premiere coin authentication/grading organization.
The reverse of the coin features a right facing young bust of Queen Elizabeth II. The obverse features cameo portraits of King George III and the first US President George Washington facing one another with national flags above and the denomination of 50 Crowns below, surrounded by the legend “Bicentennial of the United States ~ Turks and Caicos Islands”.
It is truly a lovely coin that I make available only because I have acquired a higher graded version.  I will ship via USPS Priority Mail, fully insured.
