For your consideration is a set of 2 vintage 1950s lamps; souvenirs from Pompei, Italy; made from conch shells and decorated with religious images.
So very "kitsch"! Inside the lamp are what appears to be decoupage an image of the Virgin Mary with Baby Jesus, labeled "Ave Maria".  Flowers surround the religious image and it says "Ricordo di Pompei".
The electrical workings of both lamps are in order, but only one light bulb works.  I have shown the working light bulb in both lamps so that you can see
that is the bulb and not the wiring that is the issue.
While this is a pair, you can see that they are not identical since they are made of natural shells which have been cut in half to house the lamp parts.  One is clearly larger than the other at 7-3/4" high x 5-1/2" wide while the smaller one is 7" high x 4-3/4" wide.
While not perfect, these lamps are in very good vintage condition.  I see a chip in the base of the larger lamp and some of the decoupage lettering is missing.  There are some areas on both lamps with some discolored glue residue and both lamps have some cracks or missing pieces of the shells (in front of bulb on smaller lamp?).  That said, I'm not sure if these are flaws in the production of the lamps since they are made from natural shells which have been cut in half.  Refer to my photos, which can be enlarged, to see details on condition.  All in all, these "flaws" just add to the vintage charm, in my opinion.
This pair would make an awesome addition to any collection.... and a great Easter or Christmas gift too!
