The Bard joined Conway Stewart's lineup as a commanding new flagship model. Imposing size and a striking style set the Bard apart from other writing instruments. At the same time, the traditional attention to detail hallmarked accent rings and distinctive clip mark it as part of the proud Conway Stewart heritage.
Conway Stewart's 'Bard' is inspired by writers and poets who have produced enduring and well-loved works that have enriched modern-day society's cultural fabric.
The most famous poet and writer of his generation, William Shakespeare, was known simply as 'The Bard,' though the term Bard was traditionally used to describe professional poets paid to by their Monarch to praise the sovereign's activities. Other famous Bards include William Wordsworth and Robert Burns.
The Bard features an untapered cap and barrel with a squared-off profile. A look of sturdy elegance defines Bard's appearance, giving lovers of the outsized in writing instruments a new choice. The section is thinner, allowing for an easy grip without interfering with the Bard's distinctive look and size. The barrel end is also reduced in size, which makes posting the cap simple and secure.
A pair of solid hallmarked 18-carat gold bands on the barrel set off the 18-carat solid gold nib, with the clip mounted high on the cap. While substantial in size, the Bard is still very usable, thanks to the carefully thought out design. The high-mounted clip allows the pen to sit low in the pocket. The rebated section design makes for a pen that is suitable for a wide range of hand sizes. The filling is via the reliable cartridge converter system, allowing the convenience of handy ink cartridges or the rich choice of bottled inks.
