Limited to only 100 pieces worldwide,
    CONWAY STEWART PROTOTYPE CHURCHILL
    KOGAKU-SAN MAKI-E
    LIMITED EDITION FOUNTAIN PEN #00/15
    .
In 2006 Conway Stewart created a Maki-e Collection based on their large Churchill model, consisting of 4 designs and limited to only 20 pieces of each edition worldwide.
I am selling today the only prototype of the fifth design that was not launched and is numbered 00/15. This design highlights the artist's expertise in creating a clear and uncluttered design with hand-painted gold straight lines and mother of pearl inlay.
The beauty of Maki-e depends on the craftsman's skills:
    Artistic design.
    Knowledge of traditional techniques.
A steady hand to create straight lines
The ability to tell a story through the application of art.
Many sought-after artisans acquire their training in their early teenage years, following in the footsteps of their parents and grandparents. A Maki-e artist's vocation is not motivated by money but by the pride in following a family tradition.
The artist, Mr. Koichiro Okazaki, has received prestigious recognition for his work and has been accepted by and awarded in national art exhibitions. Known through his work name as Kogaku-san, his art is admired and collected by lovers of maki-e and investors worldwide.
Each piece carries Kogaku-san's signature and the coveted
Red Seal signature signifying the highest level of Maki-e art.
    Limited Edition Number 00/15
This fountain pen utilizes the converter cartridge filling mechanism and is mounted with the large 18 carat solid gold Medium grade nib; other sizes maybe available upon request.
The packaging for the official trademarked Conway Stewart writing instrument has been designed to house your writing instrument and to serve as a showcase pen stand for the desk. The display box is crafted of luxurious full-grain leather in a rich black color. Not only is this an elegant and stylish presentation to house and protect your gift, the top of the lid can be reversed to make an executive desk stand for display.
