Description
Reproduction Aged Bronze Torsion Springs for some Pre-1900 Telegraph Keys 0.040"You get 2 of these reproduction springs made out of phosphor bronze wire. They are accurate reproductions of those used on Western Electric "dual rod lever" keys. The same style and size was also used on some other early keys. The end that goes into the frame is made slightly long so you may need to shorten using wire cutters.
Have been chemically aged to better match keys that have a nice patina.
They give the same feel as original springs even though the phosphor bronze I used is somewhat less hardened. The bronze appears brighter in person than in the photo.
Wire diameter is 0.040". These are
only for early keys that have a hole in the end of the spring tension screw and in the key frame and where 0.040" diam wire is correct.
Note that some keys used larger springs with wire diam of 0.050"
.
They are NOT replacements for later keys that use conical compression springs.
